Parking fines

Illegal parking is not one fixed charge in Ireland — it is thirteen distinct contraventions across two price bands, each tied to its own article of the 1997 Traffic and Parking Regulations. Where you parked decides which amount applies, and a disabled parking bay carries its own, separate, higher charge again.

The amounts

Thirteen contraventions, two prices

S.I. No. 227 of 2024 does not carry a single parking amount. Where you parked determines which of its schedules applies — and disabled bay parking sits under a third, higher price again, entirely separate from the two below.

These eight contraventions come from the 1997 Traffic and Parking Regulations, cross-referenced by S.I. 227/2024 into its own Schedule 8 price table.

S.I. No. 227 of 2024, Schedules 1 and 3 — the two disabled-bay offences sit in different schedules from each other, at different prices, because one is parking without a permit and the other is stopping without one.

Why disabled bay parking costs more

Both disabled-bay contraventions carry their own dedicated fixed charge under the Road Traffic (Parking in Disabled Person’s Parking Bay) Regulations 2022, priced separately from every other parking offence on this page. Neither is in the general Schedule 8 table or the higher Schedule 5 one above.
