Terms of use

This is a reference site, not a legal adviser. It tells you what the instruments say; it cannot tell you what your particular notice means, and it does not try to.

Information, not advice

This site explains what published Irish instruments say. It is not legal advice, it is not a substitute for the notice in front of you, and it cannot tell you how any provision applies to your circumstances.

What this site is

A reference site. Every figure on it is taken from a named provision of a named instrument — the Road Traffic Acts as consolidated by the Law Reform Commission, and statutory instruments as published on the Irish Statute Book — and the provision is stated beside the figure so you can check it.

Accuracy, and its current limits

The figures here are researched but have not been signed off by a reviewer of record. That is stated on every page rather than buried here. Law changes, and provisions can be enacted long before they come into force — this site distinguishes the two, but you should still treat the notice you received and the relevant public authority as authoritative over anything written here.

Liability

This site is provided as is. No liability is accepted for any decision taken on the basis of it. If you rely on a figure here for anything that matters, verify it against the instrument cited beside it — the citation is there precisely so that you can.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, say so at [email protected] and name the provision. It will be checked against the source and corrected.
